Marginalia sends you one short, richly-worded essay a day on something genuinely interesting, readable in under five minutes. Tap any word to see what it means, and rate essays to shape what you get recommended next.
Today's essay hasn't loaded. Essays are generated on demand and can take up to 15 seconds the first time you open the app each day. If it's been longer than that, check your connection and reopen the app.
How does tap-to-define work? Notable or advanced words are underlined, tap one for a plain-language definition built into the essay. Any other word opens your device's built-in dictionary.
How do recommendations work? Rating essays (thumbs up or down) helps shape which topics come up more often in future essays.
Notifications. Marginalia sends at most one notification a day, letting you know a new essay is ready. You can turn this off anytime in iOS Settings → Marginalia → Notifications.
Marginalia doesn't require an account. It uses an anonymous, on-device identifier to generate your daily essay and apply a fair usage limit, no personal data is collected or sold.
